they share their beds.” A chill’s the thrill in the air
these days: Green tomatoes’ dropping from the vine
like tomatillos make a fine romance (salsa
verde). Southwest Detroit, 8 a.m.: families,
stopped, (parents, detained), only-
the-lonely, on their way—
to school.
